ResuméEmailLinkedIn —

My mission as a designer is to help people and organizations live their values and make a positive difference in the world. With a Master's degree in Human-Centered Design and Engineering from the University of Washington and a soon to be completed certificate in Human-Centered AI, as well as 12 years of software engineering experience, I can bring your most transformative visions to life through AI-enabled websites, mobile and desktop apps, and more.

Case Studies

Google Phone Recycling Mail-Back Program Redesign

Link to the final presentation for the Google phone recycling program redesign
The final group project in the Sustainable Interaction Design course for my HCDE Master's program. I contributed extensively to the design of the overall service, did a stakeholder analysis, and created a Figma prototype of our proposed OS changes, as well as Photoshop visualizations of the mailers and instruction booklets.

Streaks app redesign prototype

One of two group projects in the Psychology of UX course for my HCDE Master's program. I created the "Select communities of activists you’d like to join" flow and the "View all Streaks users who did the same action" feature in the final Figma prototype.

Just Right Info Bites project

My capstone project for the entire HCDE program. I worked with three other students to research, ideate, prototype, test, and iterate on a design for a persuasive educational experience about insect-based pet food that encompassed collectible cards, mobile games, and physical rewards. I focused mainly on ensuring that our work throughout the project was based in solid user research to keep our designs human-centered. I also created a video prototype of the final design.

Other UX Design Work

Freeganfreefind AI-assisted app prototype

Link to the Figma Make prototype of the ForageMap app for freegans.
A group project in the intro course for the Human-Centered AI program at UW. Based on two personas created by teammates, I used Figma Make to create a medium-fidelity prototype of an app that helps freegans find sources of free food around the city. Then another teammate recreated my design in Lovable and I collaborated with him to add more features.

Microfarmer web dashboard prototype

The second project in the Interaction Design course I took for the UW HCDE program. Based on a persona provided by the professor, I laid out an information architecture for a comprehensive grower/seller management platform, then implemented several features of the Your Crops page as a medium-fidelity Figma prototype with animated micro-interactions.

New Clear News

Link to the website version of the New Clear News satirical newspaper
A volunteer project for the Washington Against Nuclear Weapons coalition, to create an online version of a satirical newspaper and do some layout fixes for the paper version. Note the simple reflow at narrow window widths, which I hand-coded in Javascript, and the illustrations I created on this page and this page.

Ecosystem Restoration VR Simulation

Link to the final presentation for the VR ecosystem restoration experience.

The final group project in the Designing for VR course I took for the HCDE program, on a topic I'm deeply passionate about. We developed low-fidelity prototypes in CoSpaces and Unity, with the latter including complex interactions, and tested them on the Oculus Quest 2.

Friend Finder end-to-end service design project

Link to the final design spec for the Friend Finder service
The group project in the intro course for the HCDE Master's program, my first experience with the full Human-Centered Design lifecycle. Our project goal was to help residents of senior-living facilities get more social interaction. I provided leadership for the team to run meetings and keep people on track, created and tested a paper prototype, and wrote the vast majority of the final design spec.

Other User Research

Stellar Village song circles UX research

Link to the final report for the song circle research project.
A one-month contract project for a small company providing online courses and experiences geared toward changemakers, including interviews, contextual inquiry, and usability studies to find ways of improving their online song circle offerings.

SHARE-NW usability study

Link to the final presentation for the SHARE-NW web app usability study
The quarter-long group project for the aptly named Usability Studies course in the HCDE Master's program. We worked with a UW professor whose research and design team was prototyping a real-world website providing medical data to staff in rural health departments. We did six local and six remote study sessions using a think-aloud protocol, with a moderator and a notetaker at each session; I played each role several times.
